With the help of many local grants, our aquaponics team installed, and now maintains, a system using fish waste to help grow food for the Bellevue Community School lunch program.  We have a unique partnership with the Department of Natural Resources to promote the growth and health of our fish.

Honey production is a dual team effort. Our hive team maintains the health and productivity of our bees.  In support of honey production, the marketing team works to raise awareness of the environmental role of bees and the value of local honey.

The BIG Tech team purchased and assembled computers for the Bellevue High School business lab, promoting classes in coding and computer apps.  Future plans involve designing websites and other marketing graphics for many local businesses.

This program pairs students in grades 4-6 with high school mentors to develop lasting relationships.  Our ultimate goal is a smoother transition from elementary to middle school for all students as little buddies remain with the same Big Buddies for three years.

Our mission is to provide food for local families in need.  Partnership with St. Stephen’s Food Bank in Dubuque provides weekly meals to send home with elementary students throughout the year and will be offering fresh food pick-up on a monthly basis.  Kids that Kare also hosts monthly summer meal events.

In connection with Special Olympics, Unified Champions promotes social inclusion through planned joint activities for students with and without intellectual disabilities.  Student-planned events include ice-skating, bowling, and an area-wide dance. Working with similar programs in other area schools, our goal is to create a climate of acceptance, respect, and human dignity for all students.

Implementation of a therapy dog into BHS will help students cope with mental and emotional stress associated with school.  Our team is actively fundraising and planning for purchase and training of a dog while running trial sessions with a trained dog in our schools.
